Researchers from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) have used a prototype Metrolab system to map the magnetic field of a remote magnetic navigation system, used to guide a catheter during electrophysiology studies at the Basel University Hospital.
Here’s what they found: (credit: J. Pascal, F. Yeung – FHNW-HLS-IMA)
They also mapped the field as it changes, to steer the catheter:
So what does this new magnetic-field mapper look like? Keep your eyes on this space, and find out!
